Easter is always a sweet and meaningful day in our home. For our family, it is a time to remember Jesus Christ and the hope of His resurrection. In many ways, Easter feels just as special as Christmas, maybe even more, because it reminds us of the love and sacrifice at the heart of our faith.
Of course, when you have little kids, the day also becomes full of laughter, chocolate eggs, and excited footsteps running around the yard. My son starts asking about Easter weeks before it arrives. He loves the egg hunts, the games, and the little surprises we prepare for him.
I like finding simple ways to make the day joyful for children while still remembering what Easter is truly about. A few easy activities can turn the day into something really special for the whole family.
If you are planning Easter at home, in the backyard, or even at the park with friends, these activities are simple, fun, and easy to prepare.
Easter Egg Hunt
The Easter egg hunt is usually the highlight of the day.
Hide chocolate eggs or plastic eggs around the yard, garden, or house. For younger children, keep the eggs in easy spots like under a chair, beside a tree, or near a flower pot. Older kids love the challenge of looking in trickier places.
Give each child a small basket or bag to collect their eggs. Watching them run around shouting “I found one!” is always the best part.
Easter Bingo

After all the running around, Easter bingo is a nice quiet activity.
You can make simple bingo cards with pictures such as a bunny, egg, chick, basket, carrot, or flower. Instead of numbers, children look for the pictures.
Use jelly beans, small chocolates, or even little paper circles as markers. When someone gets bingo, they can win a small treat. Kids usually enjoy playing a few rounds.
Easter Scavenger Hunt

This activity is similar to an egg hunt, but instead of eggs, children search for different Easter themed items.
You can hide things like a toy bunny, plastic egg, carrot decoration, yellow chick, or small flower. Give each child a simple checklist so they can mark the items they find.
Kids enjoy the challenge and feel proud when they complete their list.
Egg and Spoon Race
This is a classic game that always brings lots of giggles.
Each child holds a spoon with an egg balanced on top. They walk from the start line to the finish line while trying not to drop the egg.
If the egg falls, they go back to the start. You can use plastic eggs, hard boiled eggs, or even small balls.
Sometimes the eggs fall right away, and the kids laugh so much they can barely start the race.
Bunny Hop Race
For this game, children hop like little bunnies from the start line to the finish line.
They can keep their hands close to their chest like bunny paws and hop as fast as they can. It looks very silly, which makes it even more fun.
You can also give small prizes for the fastest bunny or the funniest hop.
Easter Egg Rolling
Each child gets an egg and rolls it across the grass or table toward a finish line.
They can push it gently with their hands or use a spoon to guide it. The first egg that crosses the line wins.
Sometimes the eggs roll in the wrong direction, and the kids run after them laughing.
Decorate Easter Eggs
After the active games, decorating eggs is a calm and creative activity.
Set up a small table with hard boiled eggs, washable paint, crayons, stickers, and markers. Children can decorate their eggs however they like.
Some kids like drawing faces, while others cover the eggs with stickers. It is always fun to see their little designs.
Pin the Tail on the Bunny
This is the Easter version of a classic party game.
Draw or print a large bunny and place it on the wall. Each child gets a cotton ball or paper tail with tape on the back.
Blindfold the child, spin them gently, and let them try to place the tail on the bunny. The tails usually end up in funny places, which makes everyone laugh.
Easter Basket Toss
Place a few baskets on the ground and give each child several plastic eggs.
Children stand a short distance away and try to toss the eggs into the baskets.
It is simple but surprisingly exciting for kids.
Easter Dance Party
A little dance party is the perfect way to end the games.
Play some music and let the kids dance around freely. You can also play freeze dance. When the music stops, everyone has to freeze like a statue.
Anyone who moves sits out for one round. Kids love trying to stay still while giggling.
Simple Tips for Planning Easter Activities
You do not need to prepare everything perfectly. Kids mostly care about having fun together.
Here are a few small tips that help the day run smoothly.
Prepare the eggs and supplies the night before.
Keep games short so kids stay interested.
Have a mix of active and quiet activities.
Keep a few extra treats for small prizes.
Sometimes the simplest activities are the ones children remember the most.
